To create the focal piece for these earrings, I weave sheets of fabric from rose & yellow 14/20 gold fill wire or silver wire using an ancient medieval fingerweaving technique. Then I cut this fabric into smaller pieces to embed behind the glass. The glass both magnifies the weave, giving it more definition, as well as collects the light, making the entire piece glisten. The fine silver background “frames” the piece allowing it to really stand out.

The neat thing about these earrings is that the oval shaped glass creates a deep 3 dimensional effect. In fact, it was this effect that made me ask the question, "what would it look like if I had many layers of glass fused together?" The answer to this question created most of the new lines I've been working with for the past two years!

The earwires are nickel free, and are the new no-slip variety. These earwires actually have little "speed-bumps" on the back to help prevent them from slipping back out of the ear. I have sensitive ears myself, and can wear these with no problem.
